Packing more power, more intelligence, more speed, water resistance and Dual SIM capability, the Galaxy S21 Plus is an enviable piece of kit. Other features such as Motion Mirror - which allows you to project your phone to your TV - and Wireless PowerShare - which lets you use your phone to charge your buds, watch or even a friend's phone - are also worth a mention. Read on to get the full lowdown on why we think the Galaxy S21 Plus is such a winner.
The design of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus is where we see the most obvious differences compared to the previous year's S20 Plus. The stylish new camera block design and glass back gives it a premium look as does the matte finish. Despite its size and weight, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus still feels comfortable in the hand.
Samsung has made some improvements on the software side to the incredible camera set up on the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus including some tweaks to Single Take mode which is a setting Samsung enables you to capture a variety of photos and video using all three cameras at the same time. The 12MP main and 12MP ultra-wide cameras, 64MP telephoto snapper with 3x hybrid zoom on the Triple-lens camera give you professional looking shots and the images up to 10x zoom are still usable on social media or when sharing with friends. Another impressive new feature on the Galaxy S21 Plus is the Director's View mode, which allows you to take pictures with the front and rear cameras at the same time. This allows bloggers and other content creators to capture reaction shots of themselves at the same time as shooting their primary footage which they can then edit together. There is also a new slow-mo mode which is particularly useful when taking pictures of unpredictable pets!
You can record in 8K resolution at 24 frames per second for video with a very high level of detail on the Galaxy S21 Plus and there are also 4K at 30 or 60fps options and Full HD at 30, 60 or slow motion at 240fps. Super Steady begs for action and Samsung have combined AI stabilisation with 60fps capture, your adventures can get a bit more adventurous — since your phone shoots like an action cam. Super Smooth 60fps Video lets you relive the moment without skipping a beat. Dynamic frame rate in FHD Auto Mode delivers a fast 60fps to capture smoother video during the day — then switches to 30fps for brighter video in low light
The pixel density on the Galaxy S21 Plus 5G and 6.7in AMOLED HD+ results in a super sharp screen. The phone also intelligently adjusts the dynamic display 120Hz refresh rate depending on what you are doing. For example, if you are playing a game, the refresh rate maxes out at 120Hz for super-smooth graphics and gameplay while if you are simply checking a web page or listening to a podcast, the refresh rate is reduced. This brilliant feature subsequently sustains the battery life of the phone. If you haven’t used a phone with a 120Hz screen before you’ll certainly be impressed with the difference. Animations and scrolling are so smooth that it can feel as though you're scanning the pages of a book or magazine rather than looking at a smartphone screen. The in-display fingerprint scanner on the is 70% larger on the Galaxy S21 Plus 5G than the S20 line so is easier to find with your digit.
Whether you're focused on one task or multiple tasks at once, Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Plus delivers a noticeable boost in performance thanks to its Snapdragon 888 or Exynos 2100 chipset and 8GB of RAM
Samsung's Galaxy S21 Plus has an impressive battery life indeed. Battery life has always been a strong point for Samsung and this phone houses a 4,800mAh battery with 25W charging which is 200mAh bigger than the battery in the Galaxy S21. Unless you are a heavy user of thirsty applications, you can easily manage a whole day and evening before you need to charge. The S21 Plus can also be used for reverse charging, so you can charge your Galaxy Buds or other Qi-compatible accessories by placing them on the back of the phone.
The purple with a gold finish camera module is a stunning contrast of colours in our opinion. The phone is also available in black, white, grey, pink and red.
