The Google Pixel 5 focuses on doing the core stuff beautifully, with three cameras (a 12.2MP main, 16MP ultrawide and an 8MP front-facing), and 4K video at up to 60fps (slowmo). The display is crisp and vibrant: Full HD+, OLED technology with a 90Hz refresh rate that makes for silky operation.
This is also Google’s first 5G-ready phone, so you’re futureproofed, and sets the tone for the high spec throughout: a meaty 8GB of RAM, a beefy 4080Ah battery, a roomy 128GB of storage and the higher IP68 certification for water resistance. Read less

Superfast 5G
If you are a fan of Google (which many of us are by now), you are going to love this simple but feature packed and superfast 5G phone. Google are gifted at the no-fuss approach to mobile phone design which means you get what you need without any of the complex pomp and grandeur that you probably aren’t going to require anyway.
This smartphone is also extremely secure thanks to its Titan M chip and Pixel is constantly scanning for incoming threats from calls, texts and links sent from other apps. Google also scans over 100 billion apps a day to keep your phone safe.
In these days where we are holding onto our phones for longer, Google have innovatively designed the Google Pixel 5 with a metal back to make it more durable and as a result, it feels more premium and robust. The industry switched to glass on the back of some smartphones to enable better signal transmission but Google have worked around this by drilling a small hole in the rear plate over the charging coil, then covering it with resin and painting over it. It is one of the thinner phones on the market at 8mm and despite its 6-inch screen feels compact and portable.
The Pixel 5 has an impressive camera array made up of a 12.2-megapixel, f/1.7 aperture main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), alongside a 16MP wide-angle camera with a 117-degree field of view and an f/2.2 aperture.
On the front is a single 8MP fixed-focus selfie camera. It can handle anything from low-light portraits to starry nights and has a Night Sight feature that lets you capture all the details without the flash. The Pixel 5’s editing software is superb too and includes a plethora of editing toggles and tricks like Portrait Light which simulates a fill light to brighten faces and subjects at particular angles. Very useful if you want to add dramatic lighting, or highlight parts of your subject after taking a shot.
As well as the Google Pixel 5 supporting video recording at 4K and 60 frames per second, it also has some brilliant modes like Locked, Active and Cinematic to play around with if you want to get creative with your filming.
The 6-inch Full HD Plus display on the Google Pixel 5 is sharp and bright with an excellent screen-to-body ratio. The 90 Hz refresh rate adds to the immersive experience too providing silky smooth scrolling.
Due to some clever operating system efficiencies, the Google Pixel 5 doesn’t require the most expensive processor on the block to function well and this is one of the ways that Google keeps the price down on this all-rounder smartphone. It has a mid-range Snapdragon 765G chipset which, when paired with 8GB of RAM is more than adequate for breezing through tasks like browsing the web to gaming and playing media.
The adaptive battery on the Google Pixel 5 understands your priorities. It does this by reducing power to the apps that you rarely use to keep your battery going for longer. It also has Extreme Battery Saver which takes your all-day battery up to 48 hours on a single charge when you really need it. When you do eventually need to plug it in, it has a fast-charging battery and you can also charge accessories with Battery Share.
The Google Pixel 5 comes in two finishes - Black or Sorta Sage and comes with one storage option of 128GB.
