If you’ve been shopping around for a SIM Only deal, you’ve almost certainly come across Lebara. It’s cheap, it’s simple and it’s a firm favourite with anyone who calls family abroad, so we completely get why people like it. On paper, the two of us look pretty similar: no credit checks, unlimited calls and texts, EU roaming, and prices that won’t creep up on you.
But look a little closer and the differences start to add up, from the network your phone actually runs on, to a plan that can pay for itself. So, we’ve put the two side by side, to help you work out which one suits you best.
At a glance: how Mozillion and Lebara compare
Short on time? Here’s the quick version. Both include unlimited UK calls and texts, EU roaming, 5G and no credit checks, so we’ve focused on where things actually differ.

The network your phone runs on matters more than you think
Here’s the thing nobody tells you when you’re comparing prices: two SIMs that look identical on paper can feel completely different over time. A cheap plan isn’t much of a bargain if your maps freeze on the way to a new restaurant or your video call drops on the train home.
Mozillion runs on the UK’s Best Network, as ranked by independent testing from RootMetrics for 13 years running. In the latest results, for the first half of 2026, it came out on top overall. It was also named the UK’s fastest and most reliable network, and the best for calls, video and 5G.
Vodafone is a brilliant network, and plenty of people are perfectly happy on it. But if you want the strongest signal in more places, we’d always suggest checking your own postcode. Our coverage checker takes about 10 seconds and covers the places you actually live, work and travel.
Where your money actually goes further
Lebara is known for good value, and fair play, it is. Prices on both sides change from time to time, so rather than quoting numbers that could be out of date by next month, here’s what’s actually worth looking at when you compare.
Look past the introductory price
A lot of SIM deals lead with a low price for the first few months before moving to the standard rate. Check what you’ll pay for the rest of the plan, because that’s the number that really matters.
Think about how long you want to commit
Lebara offers 30-day and 12-month plans. Mozillion offers 1, 12 and 24-month plans, so whether you like to keep your options open or would rather lock in for longer, there’s a length that fits.
Compare the bigger data plans side by side
If you stream, use your phone as a hotspot or game on the go, look closely at the higher data allowances. That’s often where the difference between networks shows up most.
And whichever plan you pick, every Pay Monthly or Pay Monthly Plus Mozillion plan comes with Kill Your Bill, which can bring your bill down to genuinely nothing. More on that next.
The Mozillion perk that pays your phone bill for you
This is the part we’re genuinely proud of. With Kill Your Bill, the spending you already do every week can shrink your phone bill, or wipe it out completely. You don’t spend a penny more and you don’t change where you shop.
Here’s how it works:
Pick a Pay Monthly or Pay Monthly Plus plan
Kill Your Bill comes included, then download the Kill Your Bill app.
Open the app before you pay
Choose a gift card for the shop you’re heading to. It takes seconds.
Pay with it as normal
Same shop, same basket, same total. The reward lands on your phone bill at the drop of a hat.
Think about a normal week: the big weekly supermarket shop, a couple of coffees on the way to work, a Friday night takeaway. With over 200 brands to choose from, that everyday spending starts chipping away at your bill. If you earn more than your bill in a month, the extra rolls over to the next, and never expires.
Lebara and Mozillion do have rewards offering discounts at high-street brands. The difference is where the saving ends up. A discount saves you a bit at the till. Kill Your Bill takes the reward off your phone bill itself, possibly wiping it out at the till. We’re not aware of another UK network that does the same on its SIM Only plans.
You can see the full list of brands in the app, or just take a look at the Kill Your Bill page yourself.
Heading further than Europe? This is where it gets interesting
First, the good news for both: Mozillion and Lebara include EU roaming on their plans, so that long weekend in Spain or a city break in Paris is covered either way.
It’s when you go further afield that things start to change. Outside Europe, Lebara relies on roaming add-ons. Mozillion has wallet top-ups too, but it also has its own Travel eSIM, giving you data in over 200 destinations around the world, from New York to Sydney.
If you’re doing a few countries in one trip, there are regional plans, which cluster regional countries into one plan, or, there’s the Global Travel eSIM. It’s one eSIM that covers you across more than 200 countries, so there’s no buying a new plan every time you cross a border. It switches on when you land, and you manage everything in the Travel eSIM app: checking your data, topping up and moving between destinations.
We’ve used Mozillion's Travel eSIM ourselves on trips where we’d normally be hunting for airport Wi-Fi, and landing with maps and messages already working makes a real difference. Your normal SIM stays active alongside it for calls and texts, so nobody loses track of you.
More ways to pay, so it fits your life
Lebara keeps things simple with 30-day or 12-month plans. That works for a lot of people, but not everyone’s life fits neatly into those two boxes. Mozillion gives you 1, 12 or 24-month plans, across 3 ways to pay:
Pay Monthly
The classic option. Go for a 1-month rolling plan if you like to keep your options open, or 12 or 24-months for a lower price.
Pay as you go
Pay the whole amount in one go. Getting you a cheaper overall deal when broken down into a monthly equivalent. Perfect if you like to sort things once and forget about them.
Pay Monthly Plus
Pay half upfront and the rest monthly, and you could pay less overall than on standard Pay Monthly. A happy middle ground if you want a lower total without paying for the whole plan up front.
Whichever you choose, you get the same network, the same fixed price and the same uncapped 5G speeds. The only thing that changes is how you’d like to pay for it.
Running a business? There’s a plan for that too
If you need a phone for work, it’s worth knowing that Mozillion offers dedicated Business SIM only plans, something you won’t currently find in Lebara’s range. Whether you’re a sole trader with one work phone or looking after a small team, there’s an option designed with business in mind.
For yourself or for your team, if you’ve been running work calls on a personal plan, a business plan could keep your costs clearer and flex as your team changes.
What Lebara does really well
Lebara is a genuinely brilliant network, and it’s easy to see why it has such a loyal following. If you regularly call friends and family abroad, its included international minutes are honestly hard to beat. Few providers make staying close to people overseas as simple, or as affordable. That’s what Lebara has always been about, and it does it exceptionally well.
It’s also refreshingly simple and great value, so if international calling is what matters most to you, Lebara is a fantastic choice. And if most of your calls are here in the UK, it’s simply worth weighing everything up. There’s really no wrong answer here, only the plan that fits you best.
So, which one should you choose?
Honestly, it comes down to you. Here’s our friendly rule of thumb:
If a few of those sound like you, it’s probably time to make the switch. You can keep your number, there’s no credit check, and you could be up and running on an eSIM in about a minute.
