The successor to the iPhone XR, the iPhone 11 carries on the good work that its ‘value’ predecessor began.
In fact, the 11 was launched at an even lower price yet still delivers the same satisfying build quality and stunning fusion of glass and aluminium.
New standout features include Apple’s mighty A13 bionic chip and dual rear and front facing cameras. In night mode, the 11 is capable of remarkable imaging in minimal light.
The XR’s widely praised battery life has also been bettered by the 11, giving you around an hour’s additional power on a typical day. Read less

One of the cheapest iPhones you can buy new
Not convinced? Try one of these alternatives to an Apple iPhone 11:
The iPhone 11 was launched with Apple’s usual fanfare back in September 2019. Although physically very similar to the earlier iPhone XR, it packed major upgrades including a move to two rear cameras. The iPhone 11 is also available with 256GB - so you can shoot as many photos and videos as you want. While its spec has dated a little - most notably there’s no 5G - the iPhone 11 still remains a cheap way to get a lot of iPhone.
iPhones have always led the way for style, and the iPhone 11 is no exception. Crafted from aluminium with glass front and back, the phone looks as fresh today as it did at launch. Like other recent iPhones, the iPhone 11 shrugs off dust and water - it’s tested to a depth of two metres for up to 30 minutes.
The iPhone 11’s dual 12 megapixel camera may no longer be cutting edge, but it still takes excellent pictures. Features including optical image stabilisation and a brilliant night mode mean that the iPhone 11 deals with more than just your holiday snaps. Portraits, in particular, are a real strength.
If you want to shoot video like a pro, the iPhone 11 is game. It can handle both 1080p HD and 4K video recording at up to 60 frames per second - enough to capture every detail. Optical image stabilisation helps to keep everything steady, even when using the 3X digital zoom. You can even shoot slo-mo at up to 240 frames per second!
The iPhone 11’s 6.1” screen is one of the best LCD phone screens ever produced, but there’s no denying things have moved on - the iPhone 12’s OLED display is a major step forward. Even so, the iPhone 11 boasts a 1,792x828 resolution and 326 pixels per inch (ppi). It’s crisp and vivid, making it great for gaming, multimedia, or just reading.
The iPhone 11 uses Apple’s own A13 Bionic chip. It’s not as fast as the latest generation A14 Bionic, but the iPhone 11 can hold its own against all but the iPhone 12, or the fastest Android competition. There’s still plenty of grunt for games, multimedia and creativity.
Apple’s battery and processor optimisations mean that the iPhone 11 can last for up to 17 hours of video playback. There’s support for Qi wireless charging, which helps you grab a convenient top-up. Alternatively, use the Lightning connector with a 20W adaptor and you’ll charge to 50% in just 30 minutes.
Like other iPhones, you can have the iPhone 11 in more than just a couple of colours. There are funky yellow, purple and green choices, alongside the more traditional white, black and red. Storage capacity starts at 64GB, but pay more to grab either 128GB or a hefty 256GB.
The iPhone 11 supports Qi wireless charging, but not the MagSafe cases and mounts designed for the iPhone 12. As one of the biggest-selling smartphones around, there’s a huge choice of cases, holders, wallets and the like. You can find an accessory for almost any need!
